4th of July Recipe Ideas

Red, White, & Blue Parfaits
Welcome to my "Wow, it's almost the 4th of July. Where has the summer flown?" edition of Tasty Tuesday Parade of Foods.
With fresh fruit in season, it's a wonderful time to celebrate the 4th of July with festive recipe ideas. Things don't have to take a lot of time to be beautiful. I love using my glass ware for
serving fruit throughout the summer.

**************************
I think everyone should make one of these cakes at some time in their life. :) You can make it from scratch or do it with simplicity and use a store bought cake mix.
Just celebrate patriotism with this yummy and fun Patriotic Cake.
Make this simple recipe interactive and educationally fun for little ones. While
you are making the cake, discuss with your family all the things
that make them feel courageous. Take turns placing the "stars"
onto the flag while stating one thing that makes this country
such a wonderful place to live and grow up.

INGREDIENTS:
30 - 35 strawberries
1 Sheet Cake 13 x 9 inches
1/2 cups blueberries
1 (12 ounce) tub COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed
DIRECTIONS:
Prepare 13 x 9 inch sheet cake. The sheet cake can be from
a package or a cherished family recipe. Remove stems from
strawberries. Top sheet cake with whipped topping. Place
strawberries and blueberries on whipped topping to create a
flag design. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Do you remember my Strawberry Cheesecake Truffle?
If not, you really need to bookmark that recipe. :)
Take the same instructions/recipe and make it perfectly patriotic by adding blueberries instead of the chocolate.

We LOVE this cake!! This is our standard dessert for the 4th. It's so yummy!! I included it in my post, since it's such a great recipe! Glad to see others enjoy it too!

I usually don't make a whole lot of food for the 4th, only because we celebrate the 4th and my birthday at the same time. :) We go to a big lake not far from here, swim all day, and then watch fireworks at night. So much fun!

When I do, though, we typically just do a BBQ type theme and decorate with Red White and Blue. But, I have been known to make Jello Stars as well as some others.

Yum, I make the trifle - although not with the cheesecake twist. My daughter's b'day is the second and that is what she requests each year.

I'm sooooo glad that grocery shopping is tomorrow, so I can get some ingredients for the 4th. I've been wandering around trying to figure out which ones I want for the 4th of July. :D

Wow! Everything looks great! I think I am going to try that trifle for the 4th.

Sorry I posted my recipe twice. The first time, I waited a while and it didn't show up. When I put it in the second time, it only showed up once. Who knows... Again, I apologize!

How could I forget about that cake? I made one several years ago and it was a big hit, then kind of forgotten about it. Guess what I will be making this year?

I went back for the strawberry cheesecake recipe ... and now I want to go back for your family Easter dinner. Thanks for the ideas. I just discovered I'm hosting a lunch on the 3rd, so I will "bring you to my table!"

Oops. For some reason, when I copied-and-pasted my link the first time, it added the post slug twice. So my (Titus 2 Homemaker) first entry can be deleted. Sorry!

Nothing says Fourth of July like ice cream. I don't think you will be disappointed in either of these. I'll be making Jonell Mallory's ice cream dessert for this year's celebration. It's so easy to make ahead and freeze. Check back on my blog for a special message from Red Skelton.

Yes, you're right. Everyone needs to make that cake. Including me! I've always wanted to, and now that Kat's blueberries are in season, I will have to make a special trip down to her house just so I can whip this puppy up!
