Coupon Preview - just for you

It's the first Sunday of the month, which means there's an additional P&G coupon insert. YEA!

Are you wondering if you should buy additional papers? Check the Sunday coupon preview below to see what's included. A wonderful way that I am saving more time with my binder is by using this preview resource. I clip the coupons that I KNOW I will use, but leave the rest of the inserts in the accordion section of my binder. Then I check back here when I compare my weekly store fliers. It saves a LOT of time.

Click below to see what you may need to buy.

And then head on over to my new home for more details, since you may be missing out on a weeks worth of posts. :)

New Coupons have loaded

It's October 1st (WOW), and that means that new coupons have loaded on my sidebar. Please click on over if you're in a reader and see what's being offered.
I always think ahead about my stores' sales cycles and what I need replenished in my stockpile of food.

I'm excited about some frozen vegetables, cereal, and many more.
And yes, even the $1.00 of two Pillsbury biscuits helps me with my "one hour experiment" meals. Biscuits are often on sale for "Buy One Get One Free," which makes these free or nearly free for ALL of you - even if you don't have double coupon stores.

Are coupons worth it?

A common question I receive from readers and friends is, "Are coupons really worth the hassle?"

Guess what, 92% of the time...they are not!
Yes, you heard it from the grocery guru's mouth.
92% of the time, the store is going to make money on you whether you cut a coupon or not.
Your miscellaneous coupons will not skyrocket you to grocery guru status.
But understanding that 92% of all items are priced to make money, while the other 8% of the store items are yours for the picking, will make a phenomenal difference in the way you view shopping.

You see, on any given week, 8% of the store has certain items that are "loss leader" products.
In layman's terms, these are the rock bottom prices.
The store needs to move those products out of the store because the manufacturers have new shipments that are coming to town.
I've talked about how sales are cyclical, typically every 10-12 weeks, and at the end of the cycle, stores have a choice -recoup a fraction of their money or lose out completely.
Obviously, they won't to recoup any amount they can, so they slash those items big time.
It's that 8% of the store that I focus on.
If you understand how to stock up on that 1/12 of the store where the prices are slashed, the grocery guru title will be yours for the taking.
I'm at the point now where I shop my own "store", excluding produce, and only replenish at the rock bottom prices. If you are just beginning a stockpile, you can be there as well in just three short months.
Continually I share that just because you might have a coupon, doesn't necessarily make it a good deal. In fact, there were plenty of coupons that I didn't use this week even though they would have been tripled.
I typically let about 50% of my coupons expire. I wait until the product hits their "loss leader" rock bottom price and then I stack on the double (or triple) coupons.

I know many of you have shared that you don't have double coupons in your area. Understanding the "loss leader" cycle at your grocery store, mixed with your single coupons, will still net you an incredible savings.
For those of you with triples this week, take advantage of them, there's no reason you can't become a grocery guru.

(I'm cracking myself up as I reread this. I sound all mathematically minded and I SO am not. :) But, it is interesting...More details on how this works in my "Grocery Guru" workshop.)

**********************************************
I just got home from my Sunday grocery trip.
Take a guess at what I paid for all of this (and you can't even see it all because it's stacked with a bunch hiding behind the yogurts).
One of the many common misconceptions include that couponing is only for processed foods.
Yes, I did get five Grands biscuits, two large boxes of General Mills cereal, three boxes of Chex mix bars, fruit gushers, Chex snack mix, Snyder yummy seasoned nibbles, Welch's jelly, Fiber One bars, and I admittedly splurged on Toaster Strudles.

But within your guestimate, include in your total - 18 Dannon yogurts, two pounds of grapes, two large bags of marked down fresh stir fry veggies, three bags of flour tortilla and ten boxes of Green Giant frozen veggies....
Any guesses?

ELEVEN DOLLARS!!
Yippee, yes, I do get excited at the check out and often do a happy shopping dance (in my head, of course).
Trips like that occur more often than not. I just stopped posting about them all the time because I thought you might get tired of my grocery pictures...hee hee :)

Coming home to this easy family dinner was the best part of my trip.
I pulled out the bagged chicken from this post, tossed it with some soy sauce and steamed the veggies. Serving it over the free rice that I purchased and stocked piled from a previous grocery run, our family of seven feasted on an incredibly healthy, quick dinner that even the skeptics would approve of...for under $3 (with left overs...)
Yes, this definitely Works for Me!

I've even gotten my oldest brother excited about this. I left a voice mail tempting him with a cart full of groceries for under $10.

Guess what? I am taking him on a brother/sister date tomorrow to show him how it's done.
He loves a deal, and I'm even sharing my coupons.
As any true couponer knows...that's the ultimate sacrifice.

Cut those coupons - deals this week!

I haven't gone grocery shopping in ten days since I stocked up so much during our last Super Double Coupon week.
That is...until last night... when I walked two of my friends through the meat department giving them an in-person tutorial on how to find deals... and did we ever.
Packages of fresh (no preservative) sausages and bratwurst that were $6.15, my meat man marked to $0.60. Yep...90% off!
Now that is a way to kick off an impressive live, in person tutorial for my friends. :)
I even had to step aside and give away my cheap chicken to my mom. She showed up just as I was loading up our cart. I guess there's a down side to sharing your secrets about the specific time local stores mark down their meats. :)

Now get cutting those coupons and go purchase an additional paper from yesterday. There were FIVE inserts with great coupons (to make up for Labor Day weekend when inserts are not available).

The remainder of this post is for those of you working your way towards being a grocery guru....here's a sampling of how my mind thinks during my stockpile couponing weeks.

Harris Teeter begins TRIPLES again on Wednesday.
Score some wonderful printable coupons from my side bar. Internet coupons DO triple, even though it states otherwise. Stores honor them. Store policies vary for how many you can use per transaction. Typically 2-3 of the exact same coupon per visit.

(I've only begun to look at the deals, I will add more as I have time).

I haven't bought frozen veggies since I stocked up months ago with a deal similar to this. I've been waiting since I am getting low, and was thrilled to see this.
An unadvertised special found on the catalinas print offs- Green Giant frozen boxed veggies. Remember, typically you will not see a "sign" posted in your store for this. The ad comes at the end of your receipt. Yes, they're tricky like that.

With the Catalina deal you will receive an additional $1 - $3 off your next order (purchase all veggies at the same time).
Purchase dates 9/11-10/4:
Buy 3 & get $1.00
Buy 4 & get $2.00
Buy 5 or more & get $3.00 coupon off your next order.
There was a $0.50 IP coupon on my side bar recently (tripled...it will be $1.50 off)

Then with the triples and the $.50 IP's (Internet Printable on my side bar) this could even become a Money Maker!

Mahatma yellow Rice (10 oz)-5/$5
$.75/2 08-30-09 SS = FREE
Dannon Yogurt 10 for $4
.60/6 = 08-16-09 SS = $.60/6 or .10 each
*Watch to make sure your coupon doubles/triples correctly!
Chex Mix and Bugles $1.67 ea
IP in database .50/1 = .17 each

Also, the General Mills deal advertised a few weeks ago is still taking place.
Yes, this is where math does comes into the equation. Make sure it's a good deal, even with the coupon.
If you're new to couponing, just remember to take baby steps, and begin slow.
This is taking you to the next level.
I am choosing the items below that are on sale and I have coupons for, or items that will be nearly free...I will make sure that 15 of my 20 coupons will be from items below so that I will get the instant $5 off during my shopping trip (must be purchased at one time).

Here is a scenario using the items below:
5 Pizza Rolls - $2.29*2= 4.58
3 - Grands Biscuits 5ct .80*3= 2.40 -$1/1IP & $.35/1 insert =$.35 for all 3
2 - Chex Mix $1.67 -2 $.50/1 = .34 for both
3 - GG veggies $2.97 -.$50/2 & $.50/1 = .48 for all 3
2 - Yoplait Delights - 2 $.75/1 = free for both

$5.75 - $5 Instant Savings = $.75 for all

& Get back a $1 GG CAT
*********************************************************************
Save $5 instantly when you buy any 15 participating GM products.
Gold Medal flour 2 for $4 , Fiber One toaster pastries 3 for $6, Warm Delights 3 for $5

New Coupons/CVS deals

Since it's the beginning of the month, new coupons are located on my side bar. There are some fabulous ones, so think ahead for Super Doubles or Triple coupon weeks, (if your store ever offers this option).
Whenever I see $0.75 cereal coupons, I stockpile my cereal reserve. I wait for the store to offer them on sale and then use my coupons. You may print two of each from each computer in your home. Printing from my sidebar shares a penny with me, so I appreciate your extra support rather than just printing them directly from their site. :)
Also, if you haven't signed up with coupons.com, they will send you additional reminders.

Sunday Coupon Preview

Due to last weeks triple coupons, my pantry is overstuffed with cereal, granola bars, snacks, yogurts and a host of other goodies because I knew in advance what coupon items were going to match up with the sales. I then ordered (Ebay, couponing sites) additional coupons, asked around for coupon inserts that people weren't going to use, and stocked up on the nearly free items.
Check below to see the coupons coming out next week.

If there are a few excellent coupons on things I use a lot, I know to buy some extra papers or be a bit more diligent about asking my friends. Registering on the grocery forum below gives me the heads up on my favorite grocery store sales so that I know in advance what I want to stockpile.

Where do I find more coupons?

I receive many questions inquiring as to where I find all of my coupons. I realize that needs to be an upcoming post because I don't just find them in the Sunday paper. I print them off of my blog side bar, look through magazines, order them from Ebay (yes...a great secret - I'll give tips) and I LOVE clipping them from All you magazine.

Some of you may have seen All you, sold exclusively at Walmart. I recently had a friend ask what the abbreviation AY meant when she saw it on various couponing sites, like a Full Cup.
It stands for the All You magazine and it's full off great, frugal, family friendly ideas. I referred her to their website which was selling one year's subscription for $20. Well, when blogger Southern Fried Gal @ SouthernFriedDreams.blogspot.com emailed me and offered me a two year deal, I knew I wanted to share it with you. She's saving me an entire year's subscription.

The problem is that this deal is only good through the end of the month, and you need to take advantage of it through my blog, not their home site.

Now through the end of the month (July 30), you can get a 2 year subscription to All You magazine for $16! For those that need someone to due the math that is only $0.67 per issue. Use one coupon, and you've paid for it. Try and get the order in early, in case you have any problems. Unfortunately, as of August 1, the subscription price is going way up...bummer!

Here are the details.

To order, please visit Carmella’s personal Southern Living at Home website - you must use this link to get the discounted price.

Click on Our Products then How To Purchase
Type in Balancing in the hostess first name field then click Continue
Select Balancing Beauty and Bedlam

In the search box type 40776 then click GO
Click on All You Personal Subscription then Select this Item
Then just follow the screens through checkout!

It takes 8-12 weeks to receive your first issue once you see your payment post to your account. Typically those that order in July should receive their first issue in mid-to-late September.

DISCOUNT NOTE: The total will show $19.95 at checkout and on your invoice. Your discount adjustment will be made after you checkout but before your card is charged, and the final amount charged will be $16.00. This is because Carmella is offering the discount as an independent consultant. It is not at the corporate level, so the automatic response will not reflect the discount.

It states: When you remain a member after the trial period, we will confirm your mailing address and send you your free gift cards.
It looks, to me, like you have to remain a member for more than 30 days in order to get the gift cards. Still not a bad deal - $11.95 for $50 worth of gift cards!

Thanks so much, Melinda, It's always wise to read the fine print.

Decisions like this KILL ME!
How can I pick out just one color of paint when there are SO many great ones on their palette?
Well, I had to make this decision quickly because Glidden is giving away a free quart of paint to YOU!
The page is loading VERY slowly because so many are taking advantage of their generous offer, but patience is a virtue...hurry, while supplies last through July 2. ;)

I chose turquoise. I am going to paint a $5 yard sale bench and put it under a shade tree.....yipee!

Kraft block and shredded cheese is on sale at Harris Teeter this week (6/17-6/23) for $1.47 each, so it's actually a money maker with the coupons.

Use four $1/1 Kraft printable coupon (you will need two computers to get 4 coupons), or you may have printed them off earlier from my side bar.
=Pay $1.88 out of pocket and get a $3 coupon off your next order back.

Some stores have restrictions on how many like coupons they will accept. Print, but also look for tearpad coupon for $0.50/1 Kraft Cheese available in the dairy section of some stores.

*edited to add - I just got back from HT and this deal is not advertised anywhere. There is no little sign to remind you of what to buy. Just go with confidence knowing you will actually "make money" when you buy this cheese. :)

****************************************

It's been confirmed that Harris Teeter will replace triple coupons this month with SUPER DOUBLES next week (June 24-30).
HT is doubling coupons up to $1.98. So if you have a $1 coupon, there will be a $2 discount. If you have a $1.50 coupon, it becomes $3 etc.
Please note regular coupon rules apply.

$25 Target Gift card is here - get yours now!

95% of the time when I share a "deals and steals" post, I check out all the things I offer. I want to know I can recommend them whole heartedly.
When I first posted about this free Target gift card, I mentioned that this was one deal in which I had not done, but was willing to give it a try.

Since the faith of my readers means a lot, I was beginning to get a bit nervous. It took 6 1/2 weeks, but my Free Target card JUST CAME!! I am so thrilled! This was well worth it for me, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

In order to get your free Target card, when you first sign up, you will need to give your credit card number. I only gave mine since I trusted the referral. There is a $2.95 trial membership charge. It is up to you to enjoy this trial membership and use the privileges, but your credit card will be charged additionally if you do not cancel within 30 days. That is your responsibility as outlined when you sign up, so make note of that. (****Please read the fine print. I think to get the two gift cards, you must now stay for one additional month, which is still a fabulous deal.)

It did take me weeks before I received my membership packet. I emailed them and let them know that when I only have a 30 day trial period, that wait was way too long. Their customer service replied very quickly, and it had been mailed.

In order to receive your gift card, there is one additional 30 second hoop to jump through. To claim it, you will receive a separate piece of paper that needs to be filled out and sent in.
The gift card is sent from a different distribution center. If you fill it out and send it back, you WILL get your gift card. If you've done this already, it should be coming. I would have been the first person to sign up. :)

Save your confirmation email. Keep that handy so you can contact customer service with any questions. They were very responsive to my emails and confirmed my cancellation immediately with no charge to my credit card...for anything.
I was very pleased with how they handled everything.
I did receive one email from a reader who waited 3 weeks for her membership packet and then had her credit card charged right at that 30 day mark. She called them and they were going to get back to her, hopefully with a good resolution, so make sure that doesn't happen to you.
I guess, even if by chance you forget, you're still going to receive a $25 Target gift card. That is still a great deal for minimal effort while enjoying some additional savings.

I just wanted to give you an update.
Enjoy this fun Target splurge. :)
