Yard sale + $0.75 + spray paint = MAGIC

It started with a pocketful of change, a wee early morning hour on Saturday, and vision...

$.50 glass/brass tea tray, and $.25 Hutschenreuther Gelb
(made in Bavaria Germany) china sugar set from two different yard sales.

Spray paint given to me by yard "seller."
Adorning this tray, I could feel the vision taking form...
It was clear in my mind, but it didn't transfer correctly to the green bottle.
But never fear, I had the necessary old faithful on hand to remedy this malady.
60 seconds later...

and life was good again...
vision complete.

Ahhh...
are there any sweeter moments on a Saturday morning than yard sales, spray paint and coffee?
Hmm....

I don't comment much Jen... but I love reading your blog. I always save them for last in my reader because there is such wisdom behind them... whether it be in parenting, home managing stuff, being frugal, meal planning... or just being a woman... thank you!

I have a passion for garage sales... My mom is the queen and can find pretty much anything at a sale - truly amazing. I was thinking of you today when I finished up an ecourse on shopping at garage sales for eBay inventory... Unfortunately, garage sales and eBay are why I have way more stuff than I need though... I'd buy something to resell and decide to keep it! lol... sometimes those good deals are just too good to pass up! :-)
Thanks again for sharing!

Hmmmm...perhaps I need to go garage sale-ing. I bet my husband would think otherwise! Actually, I'm trying to get rid of a bunch of stuff at a garage sale this weekend. Wish me luck!

That is so cute! I wish our garage sales around where I live weren't all on Thursdays when I work. I will have to start looking for some more on the weekends!

Thanks for your comment on 1 Smart Mama - I haven't seen the interview with Fox. Could you post a link with your comment so other visitors can see it too? Thanks!

Hi Jen :)

This post made me laugh, because I just tried painting our iron door mat green and had to rescue it with my old faithful too. I love what you did with yours :)

No, there are NOT sweeter moments than that! I love how that tray turned out! Great find!

The tray is very cute. I paint everything and have a stack to start painting when my "garage" project is done. But I have to buy my paint, I am not as good a thrift shopper as you.

I wish you and I lived together. You could help me with couponing and I would show those two girls and you how to sew. You never know, I might need to find more victims to sew for. I am always on the look out for potential people to subject my sewing skills on!!!

Be afraid, your girls could be next.
